Northern California | American auto transport destinations

Encompassing the San Francisco Bay area, Sacramento, the redwood forests, the northern coast, the Sierra Nevadas, and everything in between, Northern California is a region that contains a plethora of different cultures, geography, and climates. Ever since the California Gold Rush, Norcal has been a world leader in the world's economy, culture, and sciences. Gold mining techniques developed during the gold rush were quickly adopted around the world. More recently, the development of technology has a large part of it's history in Northern California, with Apple, Google, Yahoo, and Ebay all developed and headquartered in the region.

The geography and climate of Northern California is diverse, ranging from sandy beaches to rugged snow-capped mountains. Features of Northern California include the largest trees in the world, the highest point in the lower 48 states, the oldest known living trees on earth, rich, firtle farmlands, many lakes, and the windswept sagebrush steppe in the northeast. Overall, the area has a warm Mediterranean climate along the coast, and alpine climate zones in the mountains. Apart from the major metro areas of San Fracisco and Sacramento, the area has a relatively low population density.

While there was some activity and settlement in Northern California, the most significant expansion of the region began in 1848 with the gold rush. The tiny tent city of San Francisco expanded rapidly as an estimated 300,000 people come to the area seeking fortunes of gold.
