Tuscaloosa Alabama | American auto transport destinations

Best known as home to the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa lies on the banks of the Black Warrior river in the west central part of Alabama.

Tuscaloosa has enjoyed a history which rivals that of other Southern Towns. The city was incorporated in 1819, one day before Alabama was admitted to the Union as a state. Tuscaloosa was Capitol of Alabama from 1826 to 1846, and in 1831, the University was established. The population and economy of the town grew rapidly during that time, until Montgomery became capitol in 1846. Tuscaloosa saw a resurgence in population and economy when they Bryce State Hospital was established in the 1850's, making Tuscaloosa a landmark for mental health care that continues to this day.

Despite being established as a college town, today's Tuscaloosa is a highly industrial town, being the home to industrial giants such as Michelin, GAF Materials Corporation, Nucor Steel, BFGoodrich, JVC, and Mercedez-Benz. Tuscaloosa done not lack culture, however, being home to Theater Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra, Tuscaloosa Children's Theatre, Dance Alabama, and several other performing arts organizations.

Sports are also a prominent feature of life in Tuscaloosa, largely centered around the University of Alabama Crimson Tide. Downtown gets absolutely wild at night during college football season, esepcially on game nights. Massive gatherings at the UA quad precede each home football game, with thousands of of people gather for tailgating before performing the "Elephant Stomp" to the Stadium led by the mascot "Big Al" and the Million Dollar Band. But football is not the only sporting event that is popular in Tuscaloosa. The University also features championship teams in baseball, basketball, gymnastics, and softball. Along with the University, Stillman College and Shelton State also feature several excellent teams.

As you can see, Tuscaloosa has plenty to offer. No matter if you're a student, a retiree going to enjoy the mild winters and some great football, or anything in between, count on Classic Auto Express to exceed your expectations and help you move your car to or from Tuscaloosa safely and with no headaches.
