Automobile TransportersThere are many important factors to consider when looking to transport a car. Automobile transporters do not always tell their clients the need-to-know information before shipping their car. As a result, people have bad experiences and are reluctant to do it ever again, even to their peril. All of this can be avoided, however, by simply doing a bit of reading before placing an automobile transport order. A very common issue that comes up time and time again is personal belongings. There are NO auto transport companies that will claim responsibility for the things inside your car. This is for several reasons. First, your bill would go way up because every shipper would have to inventory your car before it was shipped so that if something went missing, they could prove it. This is a totally unreasonable request. Furthermore, people would try to scam the system and get money for items they never really had. Plus, there might be times when the shipper is in the diner getting a bite to eat and someone sees your shiny new car stereo and plucks it from the dash. To cover for such events someone would have to have their eye on all the cars all the time. This means the need for a driver and a watcher. Double the staff, double the overhead, and double the cost of shipping your car. Neither the owners or customers want that. Sometimes people try to pack their cars full to the brim because they themselves are moving and think money can be saved by cutting out a mover. This is a really bad idea, not just because of theft potential but more importantly because throughout what sometimes is a very long journey, the cars do get shuffled around a bit. Now, mind you they are very securely fastened to the truck, but just a bit of motion could cause damage to many items in an overstuffed car. In the end, it is way easier to just ask people to remove anything of noted value from their vehicles for the sake of their things and to keep honest people honest, as it were. All automobile transporters should make this information patently clear to any potential or current customer. However, when in doubt, just ask. Call up your transport and inquiry if something you want to do is sensible or not. They’ll tell you straight out, and if they can’t or don’t, you might not want to ship your auto with them anyhow. |
